A Decade of Impact

Closing Out the Get F.I.T. to Stay Fit Project

After ten years of dedicated service to the Texas Panhandle, the Get F.I.T. to Stay Fit colorectal cancer screening project is wrapping up. Supported by the Cancer Prevention and Research Institute of Texas (CPRIT), this initiative has helped thousands of Texans take charge of their health through education, early detection and navigation to care.

Since 2015, our team has worked tirelessly to reach individuals who might otherwise have gone unscreened.

Together, we’ve achieved:

  • 2,551,326 individuals reached through outreach and communication
  • 148,538 community members educated about colorectal cancer prevention
  • 16,997 professionals trained in CRC awareness and screening promotion
  • 8,321 Fecal Immunochemical Test (F.I.T.) kits distributed
  • 5,078 samples tested, identifying 724 positive results
  • 753 colonoscopies performed
  • 518 pre-cancerous polyps removed
  • 8 colorectal cancers diagnosed and navigated to treatment

These outcomes reflect a decade of collaboration, compassion and commitment. Every milestone represents real lives — individuals who received life-saving care, families who gained peace of mind and communities empowered with knowledge.

We extend our heartfelt thanks to CPRIT, our clinical and community partners and every person who played a role in making Get F.I.T. to Stay Fit a success.

Though this chapter is ending, the mission continues.

The lessons, partnerships and community trust built through this project will guide future efforts in colorectal cancer prevention and public health education across our region.

Thank you for being part of this journey and for helping us make prevention possible.
