Our health care facilities are run by the very same doctors who teach tomorrow’s leading physicians which means your care provider is always at the forefront of the latest and best in medical technology and patient care. Texas Tech Psychiatry is a teaching institution and branch of Texas Tech University Physicians.
Patients of the TTU system receive care by two expert care professionals, a resident
as well as an attending physician. Your expert team members may also include other
health professionals that unite to deliver the highest level of care possible. Your care and comfort is our highest priority, and we work hard to ensure you have
the best patient experience.
Progressive Modern Treatments
Electroconvulsive Therapy (ECT)
Using electrodes Electroconvulsive Therapy passes electric current through the brain to induce a seizure. It is administered under the supervision and administration of medical professionals in a hospital setting. This treatment method has been found to have low risk, and few, mild side effects such as ( confusion headache or nausea) side effects have been found to dissipate after a short time. ECT is recommended for those suffering from depression or treatment resistant depression, suicidal ideation coupled with depression or psychosis. If you and your psychiatrist feel ECT is right for you our office will begin the process to schedule your ECT at Midland Memorial Hospital.
Ketamine
Used in the treatment of depression Ketamine is administered in a hospital setting and supervised my medical doctors. The delivery of Ketamine can be performed by IV or nasal spray (Esketamine). Ketamine is a medication that interacts differently with the receptors of the brain. Through the partnership of Midland Memorial Hospital we are able to offer Ketamine through IV.
Esketamine
Esketamine is an FDA approved nasal spray prescription medicine, used along with an antidepressant taken by mouth, for treatment-resistant depression (TRD) in adults. Esketamine is a nasal spray which you use yourself, under the supervision of a psychiatrist while at the clinic. Your psychiatrist will show you how to use the nasal spray device, and will tell you how much and when you will take it.
Suboxone
An FDA-approved treatment for heroin and other opiate addictions. Our strict controlled medication-assisted treatment program for opioid dependence include the use of buprenorphine (Suboxone) to complement the education, counseling and other support measures that focus on the behavioral aspects of opioid addiction. This medication can allow one to regain a normal state of mind free of withdrawal, cravings and the drug-induced highs and lows of addiction which if untreated can lead to relapse.
Using Patient Portal for a prescription refill:
We refill prescriptions during regular routine office hours (8:30 to 7:00 Monday – Thursday); Our office is closed on Fridays. Please plan ahead so that you don’t run out of important medications. Remember, it may take two full business days to process some requests – particularly controlled medicines which many insurances may require prior authorization or peer to peer. Therefore, it’s important that you request your refills at least 7 days in advance. Please use the Patient Portal to get your medication refills.

***If you are in crisis it is important to go to the emergency room and receive immediate care. We are not an emergency care facility and do not have the capacity to triage emergent new patients. However, once you are established with the clinic we can work you into the schedule should you need to be seen urgently.
